The Constitution

I am an American, a Veteran, and a white, straight male. All the fundamental requirements for a White Privilege card. With that being said…

I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against ALL enemies, both foreign and domestic and I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same.

This goes on but this is the most important part for me. As a veteran, I gave this very oath in June 1986.

Since then, and most recently, it has come to a point where this oath is meaningless because I’m not going to go to prison for fighting a war against my own government.

One state at least is trying to make it illegal for you (or me) to dress in clothing that does not align with my gender at birth. This is a blatant attack against drag queens. If passed, one can be arrested for dressing up to perform on stage, they could be arrested for dressing up on Halloween, or for just being Trans.

One state wants to make child molestation punishable by execution. Now, I’m all for punishing those who do these horrible things but death? Think about the 10-year-old who sends a nude photo of herself to her “boyfriend”. He sends it to all his friends, next thing you know, he’s on death row for collecting and distribution of child pornography… Can’t happen you say? There are kids out there today that have to register as sex offenders for just this type of thing.

We no longer have the right to religion, self-expression or anything else that is not white, Christian Conservative. The Pledge of Allegiance, the national anthem, these are things that mean very little to me anymore. And yeah, I know what you are going to say, if you don’t like it, leave. I’m too old and too tired to fight it and too old and tired to flee the country so until I die, I will pity my children who inherited this mess..

If you are or where military and you don’t think any of this is true, you maybe need to do some serious soul searching on what the Constitution of the United States really means. You fight for your second amendment rights to own assault rifles, but you ignore the other amendments that talk about freedom of speech and expression, freedom to be who you are. The fundamental human rights that we are ALL entitled to, not just the white Christian conservatives…
